Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alban
Kingsford Sumana Bagbin is yet to come to terms why ex-President John
Mahama wants to lead the party.
He says he would not have contested the flagbearership post if he were Mr Mahama who suffered a humiliating defeat in 2016 general elections.
According to him though the former President had money, influence and advantages of incumbency at his disposal, he lost miserably.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s political talk show Ekosii Sen
on Thursday, Mr. Bagbin wondered how ex-President Mahama’s handlers
will convince Ghanaians to vote for him after that abysmal performance.
“Mahama’s loss was a total knockout and the gap was so huge. I would have never come back if I were him because upon all his influence, losing means your time is up and so it was important that he gives opportunity to some others to also contest,” he said
Mr Mahama on Thursday, 23 August 2018, officially conveyed his intention to run for the flag bearer slot of the NDC in a letter to the leadership of the party.
He has since unveiled a campaign team ahead of upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries.
But the Nadowli/Kaleo MP wants Mr. Mahama to give others the chance to contest the seat.
