Wontumi threatens to stop Mahama from schools in Ashanti Region

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi is threatening to stop former President John Mahama from going to do politics in any school in the Ashanti Region.
He noted that recent comments by the former president at school in Garu that he will be campaigning in schools so government should come and arrest him are unbecoming of the former president.
The former president’s comment came in the light of the controversial video that went viral on social media, showing NDC stalwart David Akamba using school kids for politics on their campus.
Akamba was invited by the police on the matter, and in the wake of that invitation, John Mahama said he will also go to schools and campaign so the police should come and arrest him too.
Chairman Wontumi said the former president is “desperate” and “a joke”, adding that he can take his school politics everywhere but if he dares come to the Ashanti Region with it, he will be stopped one time.
“I dare John Mahama to try the Ashanti Region with his school politics – we will stop him – I will stop him – I have done it before on several occasions.
“If John Mahama does something small I will do something big – whatever he does, I will do more – even when he was president I did not fear, how much more now that he is just a candidate,” he Chairman Wontumi boasted.
He is also blaming the former President for the recent brouhaha between students and authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
According to him, John Mahama appointed an autocrat as Vice Chancellor for the school and he is now allowing his politics to infiltrate his work in the school.
Chairman Wontumi said the VC would have to proceed on leave towards resignation while the students are out of campus and a curfew has been impose.
“If government does not ensure that the VC resigns I will personally organize a demonstration against him because we have to discourage people from doing politics in their work, particularly in schools,” he said.

Easter celebrations: 3 drown at Tawala beach on Good Friday

Three persons are reported dead after they drowned at the Tawala Beach at La in Accra. The deceased were part of a youth fellowship team of fifteen people who went to the beach to pray on Good Friday. The incident occurred after some of the team members decided to swim after their prayer session. In an attempt to save their drowning friend, the two others also drowned. Speaking to Citi News, a brother of one of the deceased, Kwame Mac-Joseph, said the absence of lifeguards at the Tawala beach is to blame for the deaths. “In the course of the swimming, one person was drowning and the next person wanted to help and he got drowned. The third person who also wanted to help also got drowned.” He said some of the onlookers were unwilling to help because they were not experienced enough in swimming, and were also terrified. “There was no rescue team or indigenous people readily available to help. The onlookers were looking at this three gentlemen drowning.” “We just received a call ...
